Part 2

The day is short, the task is great, the workers indolent, the reward bountiful, and the Master insistent!…… you are not obliged to finish the task, neither are you free to neglect it.   Who is wise? One who learns from all persons.  Who is mighty?  One who conquers his evil impulse.  Who is rich?  One who is happy with his portion. Who is honored? One who honors his fellows.  Pursue even a minor mitzvah (good deed or an act which honors God) and flee from an aveirah (evil deed); for one mitzvah generates another and one aveirah generates another.  Thus the reward for a mitzvah is another mitzvah and the penalty for an aveirah is another aveirah.  Study with great care, for to err in teaching may be considered a deliberate sin.  There are three crowns; The crown of Torah, the crown of Priesthood, the crown of Royalty.  The crown of a good name is superior to them all.  When a persons good deeds exceed his wisdom, his wisdom will be enduring, but when a persons wisdom exceeds his good deeds, his wisdom will not be enduring.  Study it and review it: You will find everything in it.  Scrutinize it, grow old and gray in it, do not depart from it: There is no better portion in life than this.  The reward is proportionate to the suffering.
