Lilith was the name of a demon that was thought to steal babies at birth, a night demon from Mesopotamia. She was also the first wife of Adam in extra biblical folklore, before Eve. The statement here is one of duality and how men view women, or how women might view themselves. On one level there is the physical side and the other a spiritual one. Yet again within the physical there is the mother/wife and the sensual/seductive sides. There is a complexity to certain things, things whose interpretation is based upon the situation. This is also a statement about the hypocrisy of how men usually view women. Society restricts or handcuffs certain roles within itself and we also do the same to ourselves.
