Dedicated to Roniel and Sandra Clark family
The underlying theme behind this piece is the common origins of all life and the brevity thereof. The majority of life for a butterfly is spent in the larval stage as a caterpillar. When the insect finally achieves its glory, its life is almost over.   The beautiful creature is dying, but being blind to that sad reality, we merely enjoy its glorious colors and graceful wings. Flowers also share in this beautiful and terribly short existence. And so do we. Many years ago in China, the color yellow was considered a royal color, and it was reserved for only the emperor. A peasant was not allowed to wear it upon pain of death. Yellow also symbolizes the sun and the growth of life, which is associated with it.
